Migrating from GB 38031-2020¶
The 2025 revision is substantial. The headline is the new pack-level thermal-propagation pass criterion — no fire, no explosion plus a 5-minute warning signal — but two new tests were added (8.1.8 fast-charge, 8.2.16 bottom impact), a new "same type" framework (Chapter 9) was created, and most pack/system tests had either their requirements or their method revised.

- Newly added tests — 8.1.8 (safety after fast-charge cycles) and 8.2.16 (bottom impact).
- Tests that got stricter — clauses where the requirements (5.x) were revised; thermal propagation (5.2.7) is the headline.
- Tests with methodology changes — clauses where the method (8.x) was revised, with notes on which also had requirement changes ("both").
- Re-certification timeline — clause 10 dates and what they mean for OEMs with 2025–2027 product roadmaps.
