Geometry and B-Rep Reasoning¶
What This Capability Covers¶
This capability area covers shape understanding and structured interpretation of CAD and drawing geometry, including:
- topology and feature structure
- persistent identities and naming
- semantic extraction from geometry
- geometry-to-graph conversion
- linking 2D and 3D engineering representations
Why RapidDraft Cares¶
This is the capability backbone for both drawing intelligence and DFM reasoning. Without a strong geometry layer, later reasoning turns brittle and hard to scale.
Typical Academic Signals¶
- feature-recognition or CAD-intelligence work
- graph-based shape representations
- geometry kernels and topology work
- CAD-to-CAM or CAD-to-analysis translation
Linked Problem Spaces¶
Linked Work Packages¶
- WP-01 Drawing Tolerance Extraction
- WP-02 Feature-Based Manufacturability Inference
- WP-03 Simulation-Ready Geometry Abstraction
Open Questions¶
- Which geometry representation should be the working abstraction for the first university collaborations?
- Should topological naming be treated as its own work package in the next content wave?
