Pack: G_BASELINE Severity: major

Treat shut-offs and thin tool sections as durability problems, not just geometry details

Rule Card

Field Value
Pack G_BASELINE — DFM Baseline Codex
Title Treat shut-offs and thin tool sections as durability problems, not just geometry details
Severity major
Check logic Hybrid
Applies to CAD part
Inputs required geometry_features, manual_context, part_bounding_box
Fix template Open the shut-off angle, thicken the supporting steel, or relax the feature aspect ratio before tool fragility becomes the real problem.

Short Description

Shut-offs and deep narrow steel sections fail because they combine friction, flash risk, deflection, and heat concentration. If the tool section is too thin or too deep for its width, the mold becomes fragile and expensive to maintain.

When It Applies

This rule belongs to G_BASELINE (Shared across multiple manufacturing routes) and targets CAD part.
