Projects Map

Core projects, active research, key decisions, and how they relate. This is the helicopter view. For live plans, tracking, handovers, and playbooks, see 07_Project_Management.

01 - RapidDraft Core

Status: Active - integrated pilot runtime Started: November 2025 Current focus: Running the merged RapidDraft shell as the operative product surface for model review, DFM review, and pilot workflows

What it is

RapidDraft is the current customer-facing engineering review product. It combines shared model context, review workflow shells, manufacturability feedback, and pilot-facing runtime behavior in one integrated surface.

The current implementation surface is:

D:\02_Code\45_merged_macos_colabui_dfmanim

What is true now

  • the merged integration repo is the current operational product surface
  • app.rapiddraft.ai and pilots.rapiddraft.ai are one active runtime path
  • Cloudflare Access remains in front of pilots.rapiddraft.ai
  • DFM review, Part Facts behavior, and exportable review outputs are part of the active Core story

Relationship to RapidDraft Studio

Studio remains the larger long-term orchestration vision, but the current product truth is being expressed through the shared integrated shell rather than through a separate Studio-only runtime.

02 - RapidDraft Studio

Status: Vision stage - architecture direction, not a separate dominant runtime Started: February-March 2026 Current focus: Long-term workflow orchestration, engineering IDE thinking, and future expansion beyond the current RapidDraft shell

What it is

RapidDraft Studio is the long-term evolution of RapidDraft into a fuller engineering workflow environment. The current integrated product shell already borrows from that direction, but Studio is still better understood as the long-horizon architecture and workflow vision rather than a separate active product surface.

03 - Fatigue Agent

Status: Scoped, research complete, not started Started: February 2026 Current focus: Waiting for RapidDraft traction before parallel investment

What it is

An AI-powered fatigue-analysis agent for industrial equipment teams. It automates post-processing and reporting on top of existing FE results rather than replacing solvers.

04 - DFM Research

Status: Active - feeds the live integrated product Started: December 2025 Current focus: Rule-driven manufacturability intelligence, evidence planning, and benchmark discipline for the integrated RapidDraft runtime

What it is

DFM Research is the manufacturability-intelligence track behind RapidDraft. It now feeds the live integrated product more directly than before through:

  • rule-driven review preparation
  • capability-aware Part Facts
  • plastics-aware evidence planning
  • exportable DFM review outputs

It still includes benchmark and rules-handbook work, but it should no longer be described mainly as an older standalone benchmark repo.

05 - Autonomous CAE

Status: Exploration - no active development Started: February 2026 Current focus: Research into pre-mesh simplification and autonomous simulation reasoning

What it is

Longer-term research into geometry cleanup, simplification, and autonomous CAE setup. Not a current commercial focus.

06 - Infrastructure Research

Status: Reference - feeds other projects Topics: CAD SDK evaluation, training platform labeling, local knowledge infrastructure

What it covers

Reference research for SDK choices, dataset tooling, and technical infrastructure that support the current RapidDraft and future Studio directions.

Pivot Research Wiki

Status: Active decision support Current focus: Testing whether RapidDraft should narrow toward Release Readiness, CAD/ERP handoff, drawing intelligence, and manufacturing package review

What it is

Pivot Research is a cross-cutting wiki surface for recent strategic research. It is not a separate product line yet. Its current job is to compare pivot options and preserve the evidence behind the likely first wedge: Release Readiness for drawings, BOMs, DFM evidence, revision state, and handoff readiness.

Relationship to RapidDraft Core

The Release Readiness thesis should be treated as a candidate sharpening of RapidDraft Core, not a parallel wiki or duplicate product narrative. CAE workflow insights remain useful, but should stay secondary until customer discovery proves they belong in the same commercial path.
